The new Aida server will require software to access files on your personal share. Two applications are recommended depending upon your computer operating system and preference: Filezilla (Mac and Windows) or WinSCP (Windows only).
Instructions connecting to your share using Filezilla are found below.

Filezilla
Filezilla is a free, open source FTP client. It supports FTP, SFTP, and FTPS (FTP over SSL/TLS). The client is available under many platforms, binaries for Windows, Linux and Mac OS X are provided.
- Download and install the corresponding Filezilla client on your computer:

- Host: vm-aidaprd-01.econ.yale.edu
- Username: Your Yale NetID
- Password: Your Yale Password
- Port: 22

HINT: After successfully logging into the server, your authentication information will be saved. For future sessions, use the dropdown arrow to the right of the Quickconnect button and select the server from the history list (The path structure will contain you Yale NetID, e.g., sftp://[email protected]). - The first time you connect to the server, the program will ask you to save your password. Select the “save passwords” option.
- You will also be prompted to trust the host before connecting. Check the “Always trust this host, add this key to the cache” box and click the OK button. You will not see this message again if the box is checked.
- Once connected to the the Aida server, your file share will show in the right column.
FILEZILLA NOTES:
- The display is split in two columns; the left column shows your local computer drive and the right column shows your share on the Aida server.
- The two upper panes show the folder structure on your local computer (left column) and on the Aida server (right column).
- The two lower panes show the files/folder within a selected folder from the corresponding top box.
- Files can be copied to and from the server by dragging and dropping to the destination folder.
- File options, e.g., edit, rename, delete, etc. can be seen by right-clicking on a file.

FileZilla is a straightforward macOS application that enables you to quickly and effortlessly transfer files between your Mac and multiple FTP servers.
Support for FTP, FTPS and SFTP servers
FileZilla comes with a user-friendly and intuitive interface from which you can quickly and effortlessly connect to multiple servers and instantly transfer files and folders. What is more, FileZilla features support for FTP, FTP over SSL/TLS (FTPS) and SSH File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).
What is more, FileZilla offers IPv6 support and is available in numerous languages. Thanks to the built-in Site Manager, you can add, rename, delete or copy websites and bookmarks. The General tab helps you provide the host name, port, protocol and encryption method in addition to the login type, user, password and account info.
By accessing the Advanced tab, you can choose the server type and use a bypass proxy. Additionally, you can choose between different transfer modes and charset encodings. When you are happy with your settings you can connect to multiple sites and start transferring files.
Dual panel interface
From FileZilla’s main window you can view the content of the local and remote site, and initiate transfers with just a couple of mouse clicks.
The top toolbar helps you hide or show the message log, as well as the local or remote directory tree, the transfer queue, refresh the files and folder list, cancel the current operation and disconnect from the currently visible server.
Furthermore, you can quickly connect to a host and analyze the list of files and folders on both the local and remote site. You can use the contextual menu to upload or download files and folders, create new directories, edit the existing ones and refresh the list.
Pause and resume transfers
All new connections can be opened in a new tab and you can apply various transfer speed limits and remotely find the desired file. Moreover, you can pause and resume transfers of all files including those that are larger than 4GB.
